Paint 2022—Relationships and Limitations is an exploration by ten artists of the expressive language of colour, and of colour’s relational qualities.
The linchpin of the exhibition is ChromaCorona, an ongoing colour chart book, started by Penny Burnett in response to the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.
Penny has invited several artists, predominantly painters, all of whom have personally influenced her over the years, to explore the premise of ‘relationships and limitations’ by selecting only three pigments from two consecutive pages of ChromaCorona and, with those pigments plus white, create new work.
The cross-pollination and dialogues created from this painterly limitation promise to expand both practitioners’ and audience’s appreciation of colour.
